PRESENT/PAST PROGRESIVE
WHAT IS IT?
In the present it is used for actions or events that are happening at the moment of speaking, temporary or developing actions, near future plans. In the past it is used when an action or event was happening at a specific time in the past, actions that were interrupted by another action in the past.
AFIRMATIVE PRESENT:
S + Verb in the present (am/is/are) + Verb add 'ing' + C
AFIRMATIVE PAST:
S `Verb in the past ( was/were) + Verb add 'ing' + C
NEGATIVE PRESENT:
S + Am/is/are + Not + Verb add 'ing' + C
NEGATIVE PAST:
S + Was/Were + Not + Verb add 'ing' + C
INTERROGATIVE CLOSED PRESENT
Am/is/are + S + Verb add 'ing' + C + ?
INTERROGATIVE CLOSED PAST:
Was/were + S + Verb add 'ing' + C + ?
INTERROGATIVE OPEN PRESENT:
Pronouns interrogatives + am/is/are + S + Verb add 'ing' + C + ?
INTERROGATIVE OPEN PAST:
Pronouns interrogatives + was/were + S + Verb add 'ing' + C + ?
EXAMPLE PRESENT:
+ She is playing soccer -She is not playing soccer ? Is she playing soccer? ? Why is she playing soccer?
EXAMPLE PAST:
+ She was playing soccer -She was not playing soccer ? Was she playing soccer? ? Why was she playing soccer?
